Our commitment to local manufacturing
Simmons was built on one single, unwavering principle from the very beginning, to manufacture locally without exception.
Founder Brigitte Simmons brings a wealth of experience from across the industry — from bespoke tailoring to in-house and offshore production. Through it all, one thing became clear that true quality and craftsmanship can only come from being close to the process, and closer still to the people who make it possible.

Tailored in New Zealand for conscious consumption.
A community built on craft
By building on relationships with talented makers, cutters, and like minded creatives, Simmons has become part of New Zealand’s tightly woven manufacturing community where small businesses support one another through mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to keeping the art of tailoring alive.
From fabric merchants and buttonhole specialists to pattern makers and pressers, it is a collective effort to create a brand. Every piece we create passes through the hands of people who take pride in their work and who we recognised for it.
Local manufacturing gives us greater control over the entire process. Being able to meet with our partners face to face means we can oversee every stage of production, ensure ethical practices are upheld, and maintain the quality standards that Simmons is known for.
Sustainable, responsible production is built into the way we work. From employment standards to environmental footprint, we’re constantly evolving to do better and better for the industry. It begins with valuing the skill and experience of our makers, and paying them well above a living wage. Because craftsmanship deserves respect and recognition.
We believe that it all starts from the top and it is the responsibility of each brand big or small to do better for the industry.
